Thanks to my friends for attending my practice class! I learned a lot and found a few typos on my handouts! Looking forward to teaching and spreading the ukulele love here in Knoxville in May at our class.

Sign up NOW by calling 865-384-3443. The 2 hour class will be held at the Interesting Developments Photography Studio in Old North Knoxville. Instruction will include tuning, how to read chord charts and tab, we’ll cover 3-5 chords and work on 3-4 songs.
Come early to tune your instrument and enjoy “luau” food and meet the other uke players.
Class description
Here is what we have planned so far… the first 30 minutes or so will be tuning instruments, enjoying “luau” food (such as pineapple pizza, Hawaiian punch, coconut cookies etc.) This is time to socialize and meet the other students.
The lesson will be about two hours long and we will cover some basic chords, strumming, how to read tab and chord charts. We will also be playing some songs together too!
Anna Dennison is our certified music instructor, so this is a real lesson. The goal of this class is to share my love of ukuleles, friends, fun, music and tiki gods.
“Ukulele 101 and “Luau” classes set!
I’m so excited to see this idea come to life- first class will be in March- this is a “test” class- just for friends then the real one will be in May. It’s going to be so much fun and such good energy!
Life’s more fun when you can play
I think I’m settling on this slogan– it implies just knowing how to play makes your life better while “life’s more fun when you play” kind of means only when you are playing.
“Life is more fun when you play”
Here is possibly my slogan for Ukeladies. What do you think?
another close up looks at my blue uke!

Bette Midler plays a Fluke in her show
Just back from Las Vegas where I went to see Bette Midler at Caesar’s Palace. (“The Showgirl Must Go On”) it was a terrific show accentuated by her strumming away on a ukulele! From where I was sitting it looked like a bejeweled Fluke (by Flea.) It sounded gorgeous too! What a great addition to all the showgirls, fancy lighting and fun costumes!
Uke Strings – GCEA
It is helpful to learn the names of the strings so you can build chords and so you can tune your uke. Here is how I remember the names of the strings : Good Cats Eat Ants. It’s silly enough to remember! The string that is closest to your face while holding the uke as if you are playing, is the G string(top string)- going down toward your feet is the C string, then the E string, and lastly, the A string.
